Teddy

Looking at him, you might not think Teddy was a horse in need of rescue. Outwardly, there were no obvious signs of abuse or neglect. Yet inwardly, Teddy’s heart told a very different story.

Teddy is a beautiful, well-bred, and well-trained show horse. For most of his life, he was loved and cared for by a devoted family. But when unexpected circumstances arose, his owner’s priorities shifted, and Teddy was no longer at the center of attention. Though he was provided food, water, and shelter at the boarding facility, he lacked the interaction and companionship he once knew. Confined to a dark stall for much of the day, Teddy longed for human connection, socialization with other horses, and the simple joys of grazing in a pasture under the sun. For three long years he waited—battling loneliness, despair, and the quiet ache of neglect.

Some might say we learned of his situation by chance, but we believe it was God’s providence that brought Teddy to our attention.

Once Teddy’s owner understood his condition, she graciously chose to donate him to our ministry as a program horse. We were overjoyed and deeply grateful—not only for this beautiful gift but also for the opportunity to give Teddy a renewed sense of love, purpose, and freedom.

Today, Teddy thrives. He enjoys a sunny, clean stall, daily interaction, and affection from those who care for him. Most importantly, he now has the assurance that his life will be used to serve God. Above all else, Teddy has what he lacked for so long—and what so many hearts still yearn for—he has hope.

Teddy’s story is not unlike our own. The hidden wounds of the heart may not always be visible, but they can be just as painful and debilitating. Countless people live captive to depression, loneliness, and despair, feeling imprisoned without hope of escape.

But Jesus knows.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” —John 10:10

The enemy seeks to steal the life we were created to live, but Jesus Christ came to rescue, redeem, and restore. He came to set us free, heal the hidden wounds of the heart, and renew lost hope.

Teddy may no longer perform to win ribbons, but his life now serves a greater purpose: to win hearts for Jesus. His story is a living testimony to the profound love and saving grace of God.

Proverbs 21:31

“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”
