What is a session?

A session is not a lesson; But will rather consist of one-on-one time between a participant and a session leader and will be tailored to meet the individual needs of the participant. The time spent together will consist of various activities depending on the interests and skill level of the participant. Our goal is to build relationships and encourage participants towards the love and hope of Jesus.

How Much is a session?

It is our desire to provide the sessions free of charge. God’s love is free, and we want to share that love with others freely. Act 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

What does a session look like?

Sessions will range from 60- 90 minutes and will consist of a variety of activities. It will begin with the session leader and participant engaging in an act of service, such as cleaning, sweeping and any other random chore that needs done. This helps instill the importance of work ethic and servanthood as well as helps the leader to gauge the interest and personality of the participant.

Following the act of service, there will be a time of interaction and relationship building with the horse. This could include petting, brushing, hand painting or learning valuable things relating to the care and characteristics of our equine friends. The goal is to progressively work toward learning more advanced skill levels such as riding a horse.

What if my child doesn’t like horses?

For the participants who are not interested in horses, we will try to have crafts, wood projects and other activities available for them to be engaged and have fun.

What is the requirement to apply for a session?

We ask that our participants be at least 7 years old.

We request that the participants have the desire to be there. Their involvement must be voluntary and not under compulsion of others who desire it for them.

It will be mandatory for the Legal Guardian/Parent to stay on site at the farm during the scheduled sessions for the entire time, it will be necessary for anyone who comes to the farm property to fill out a Liability form, even if they are not actively participating in a session program.

What should the participant wear/bring?

All participants will be required to wear closed toe shoes or boots. No open toed shoes, such as flip flops or sandals will be allowed- due to the risk of injury. If you are scheduled to ride you will be required to wear long pants as well. We also ask that all clothing choices be modest and fitted (covering mid drifts and other delicate areas), as well as not too loose as to create entanglement hazards. Riding helmets will be required and provided by the Farm.

Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, weather appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes/boots.
