Joey & Sarah Metzger

Founders

Sarah Metzger, alongside her husband Joseph “Joey” Metzger, are the Founders of Saving Grace Farm Ministry. They have been married since 2015, Joey and Sarah are blessed with two children, Lane and Ellie, as well as three dogs and five horses of their own. Their love for God, animals and people is the central heart to their ministry.

Joey, an Army veteran, was first introduced to horses when he met Sarah in 2013. He currently works as a Production Manager at D&D Ingredients in Landeck, Ohio, and also serves as a local youth sports coach, investing in the next generation through mentorship and encouragement. Sarah has been passionate about horses since the age of 12 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology and Family Science, along with a minor in Equine Science, from The Ohio State University. She carries both a deep love for Christ and a strong desire to see people walk in freedom and restoration. Together, Joey and Sarah are active members of Agape Fellowship Church and serve their community through involvement in local 4-H programs.

Their call to ministry grew out of years of serving as mentors at Royal Family Kids Camp, where they witnessed first-hand the needs for the youth in Allen County, as well as the brokenness faced by veterans and families. One Sunday during a church service, the Holy Spirit moved on both of their hearts with clarity: they were to create a ministry where horses and healing would come together under the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

For Sarah, this vision was deeply personal. As a young girl navigating emotional struggles, she often found peace by riding her horse, “Grace,” bareback across her family’s fields—leaving behind her pain and finding a closer relationship with God in every ride. To her, riding has always symbolized her faith: trusting a 1,000-pound animal to carry her safely and take care of her, much like trusting God to guide and protect her through life’s storms.

Saving Grace Farm Ministry was born from that testimony. Its mission is simple yet profound: “Healing Hearts and Horses through the Saving Grace of God.” By pairing rescued and rehabilitated horses with children, veterans, and families, Joey and Sarah open the door for people to encounter the love of Jesus. Just as horses can be restored from neglect, so too can broken hearts be restored, redeemed, and made whole by the power of Christ.
